They offer accommodation to a constantly increasing segment of society that own or rent RVs for leisure or use them for business. Transit RV parks that offer a convenient overnight stop are typically located close to highways; destination RV parks cater to tourists visiting vacation attractions and usually provide accommodation for a few nights; and residential RV parks that cater to retirees and snowbirds offer monthly and six-month contracts.
Almost all RV parks offer at least a basic standard of provision to each vehicle location, properly called a slip, which comprises water and electricity supplies and sewage outflow. Laying down these services is a complicated and expensive process. Laying out the utilities for an RV park is a complex project.
A simple coax cable works for most RV parks that have a cable hook-up, and we’ve found 50ft is plenty long. Of the few RV parks we visit in our travels only a small handful have cable, and of those only a couple have a quality non-static signal.
Find out how much money you can make renting your RV Click Here Generally, the accepted method of sanitizing involves the use of bleach. If possible, drive around with this solution in the tank. This will make the water swoosh around and aid in getting the bleach solution all over the tank. Let this solution sit in the tank for a few hours. Open all faucets and let the water drain out. You should be able to smell bleach. Let your RV water system stay with that bleach smell for another 3 hours at the very least.
Refill and drain again.
But some regulators have an unfortunate side effect – they can limit the maximum flow rate, which can create wimpy flow from the shower nozzle, and annoyingly long times to fill a pot with water in the kitchen. The worst culprits are the small inexpensive generic brass or plastic regulators that are widely available anywhere RV parts are sold. They may do a good job of regulating the pressure, but their very small internal diameter limits the flow to unacceptably low rates.
There are at least two solutions to this problem: Use two or more of these cheap regulators in parallel.
To hook up to campground water, find and remove the cap labeled “city water connection.” This connection runs the water directly to your pipes, bypassing the fill tank.
Plus it makes a whistling sound when the hot water is running. The sound seems to be coming from or near water heater. I have replaced the connector and pressure valve where you hook it to city water. It still has low pressure in the bathroom; especially the hot water has very low pressure. Any help would be appreciated! Remove the faucet strainer at the outlet of that bathroom faucet set.
It simply unscrews from the outlet. There may also be a flow restrictor component inside, depending on the brand of faucet used in your motorhome. A flow diverter may also be present; usually a white plastic piece with holes in it. It basically directs the output flow to a certain pattern. Be sure all the components in the tap outlet are clean and free from all obstructions. Additionally, some faucet assemblies have removable stems for both the hot and cold faucet valves.
Contact Us How to winterize your RV – don’t burst your pipes For me, the most frustrating repairs are the ones that are preventable. That causes them to expand, then BOOM! They burst open, and water gets everywhere. Winterizing your RV is cheap; repairing it is not. Many people winterize their own units.
Dear Gary, Thanks for all your great info! I am wondering if there is a replacement backflow valve for the city water hookup. It looks like I will have to replace the entire hatch for the freshwater city and tank fill.

The RV city water inlet is an easy way to provide pressurized water into your RV unit. The RV city water inlet on the outside of the RV makes it possible to hook up to an outside source, such as a campground or residential faucet using a hose, and have pressurized water running on the inside.
RVs will be equipped with a water tank, appliances that are operated by a 12V battery, and holding tanks. All these setup allows most of the RV travelers to disconnect from the utilities for some days, and camp wherever they want. However, hooking up your RV offers increased comfort, which includes the ability to use unlimited water, and use items that need a great deal of power like air conditioners and televisions. RV parks like Rio Hondo RV Park offer partial and full hook ups, which is a great option for those looking forward to living in a community.
Partial hookups include only electricity and water, whereas full hookups also include a sewer service. Some of the deluxe RV parks also offer hookups for telephone and cable television. The amenities that are included in full hookup RV parks are discussed below. Water Water hookups in RV parks allow you to connect your RV to the fresh water supply of the campground. Typically, this water comes from the city water supply or a well at the campground and the water is usually considered drinkable.
All the RV parks, except the primitive and remote campgrounds, offer water hookups.
By Leah The worst kind of repair is the preventable kind. Be very thorough when winterizing your RV. There really is no need to put anti-freeze in the hot water heater, fresh water holding tank, grey and black water tanks, as they are drained, and large enough to expand and contract without any damage occurring.
Question: I tried to hook up to city water and when I turned on the water I had water leaking from under the motorhome. Does that mean that a hose is disconnected or was I doing something wrong? Answer: The water under the motorhome can be a number of things. The best case is that your fresh water.
Sometimes, you run that system off your onboard pump and fresh water tank. And while hooking up to a campground water system is pretty convenient, it can also be risky. Is the water exceptionally hard? Has it been chlorinated? RVs are designed to accommodate water at a certain pressure. Water Pressure Regulators Because city water pressure varies from location to location, we recommend obtaining an in-line water pressure regulator to prevent damage to any components, connections, and seals in your fresh water system.
These devices simply connect in-line between the supply hose and the city water input on the coach. We recommend regulators that control water pressure to 50 psi. So we know we need a water pressure regulator, but which one? Many models are available to RVers, are there any differences? I decided to test several available models to find out.
Pressure and Flow Rate. It does little good to control the water pressure if you choke off the flow rate to a dribble in the process, so I needed to test both.
I bought a new Roadtrek last year and am now having a problem with the RV By Pass Pump not cutting off completely. I have checked for leaks. When I turn it on it puts out a full stream of water and then when I turn faucet off it keeps making that noise. I am in Wyoming at the present time and cannot find a dealer for Shurflo. It is still under the 2 year warranty.

In entry level RVs though, the water heater may only operate in LP gas mode. Water heaters in other motorhomes might operate by a third heating method called Motoraid see more below , which uses waste heat from the motorhome engine to heat the water as you drive. Finally, some high end RVs may have an entirely different system in which the water heater is part of a diesel and electric central heating system, typically either the Aquahot or Hydrohot brand names.
These systems are an entirely different animal and will not be discussed here. A few models are advertised as being 16 gallon heaters, but these are actually 10 gallon heaters that superheat the water and then mix cold water at the outlet, making them roughly equivalent to having a 16 gallon heater at the usual degrees. The RV water heater can be operated in either mode or both can be used to speed up the heating process. Both are controlled by a thermostat, so the heater only runs as needed.
In LP gas mode, a heater control circuit board insures safe operation, so 12v power is needed for it to operate.
The campground is very clean. There is a very well stocked General Store. But our favorite part of the campground was the Dog Park. We are members of another resort RV park and do not currently have a dog park. We are going to suggest one now.

We need water to survive and can only go a few days without it. When you first dream of living off the grid and having a homestead, you dream up all sorts of crazy ideas. Before we put an offer in on our property, we were admiring this river, and secretly or not so secretly hoping that we could find a lot that had similar river frontage. So we have a few options, one of which is drilling a well to tap the aquifer.
Water front property is romantic if you even have rights to the water , but at what cost? The problem is that drilling a well costs money, and potentially a lot of it!
